Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 28, 2026
Blind Pear is a dating service for adults aged 18 and over. This policy explains what information Blind Pear collects, why we use it, who receives it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Account and profile information
We collect the information needed to create and operate your account, including:
- Your email address, account identifier, and authentication records. Supabase manages authentication; Blind Pear does not receive your plain-text password.
- Your name, date of birth, age, gender, sexual orientation, city, relationship goals, beliefs, interests, lifestyle preferences, profile answers, and other information you choose or are asked to add to your dating profile.
- Profile photos, voice recordings, and media preferences you upload.
Location
Blind Pear requires a city or approximate location to provide nearby matches and distance filters. You may select a city manually. If you choose Use my location and grant permission, we also collect and store device-derived latitude and longitude. We use those coordinates to calculate distance and do not intentionally display your exact coordinates to other members.
Activity and communications
We collect likes, passes, matches, blocks, reports, preferences, direct messages, message read status, and similar actions needed to provide and protect the service. Messages are visible to the people participating in that conversation.
We also collect first-party product events, such as app opens, swipes, matches, and messaging milestones, to operate the app, measure feature usage, prevent abuse, and improve recommendations. App opens may use a randomly generated, install-scoped identifier. Blind Pear does not currently use a third-party advertising or behavioral-analytics SDK.
Purchases
The current iOS release does not offer purchases. If you subscribe to Blind Pear Premium on a supported platform, the applicable app store processes your payment. We and RevenueCat receive your Blind Pear account identifier, product, subscription status, and purchase history so we can provide and analyze Premium access. We do not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details.
Notifications and device information
If you enable push notifications, we collect a device push token and notification preferences. Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging process the token to deliver notifications. Basic device and app-version information may also be processed when the app communicates with these services.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate, maintain, and delete accounts.
- Display profiles and enable matching, messaging, mutual photo reveals, blocking, reporting, and safety review.
- Calculate distance and apply your discovery preferences.
- Generate and improve personalized recommendations.
- Provide, restore, and verify Premium subscriptions where they are offered.
- Deliver notifications you enable.
- Measure service usage, troubleshoot problems, secure the service, enforce our rules, and comply with law.
How information is disclosed
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for third-party targeted advertising. Information may be disclosed as follows:
- Other members: Profile information is shown in the app as part of the dating service. Photos remain hidden during discovery and are made available to a match only through Blind Pear's eligible mutual-reveal flow. Messages are disclosed to their intended recipients.
- Supabase: Provides authentication, database, server functions, and file storage for account, profile, content, message, and activity data.
- Google Gemini: Processes profile text and up to four profile photos to create a mathematical embedding used for matching recommendations. Voice recordings and direct messages are not sent for this purpose.
- RevenueCat and app stores: On platforms where Premium is offered, RevenueCat processes your Blind Pear account identifier and subscription records to validate, restore, and administer access. The applicable app store processes the payment and its transaction records.
- Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging: Process push tokens and related device information to deliver notifications.
- Legal and safety disclosures: We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect people, investigate fraud or abuse, or enforce our terms.
These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations. They may process information in countries other than your own.
Retention and account deletion
We generally keep account-linked information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account in Settings → Delete account, or follow the instructions at blindpear-app.vercel.app/delete-account if you cannot sign in.
After a successful deletion, Blind Pear removes your account, profile, photos, voice recordings, matching data, preferences, push tokens, and account-linked analytics. We also request deletion of the linked RevenueCat customer record. Messages you sent remain in the other participant's conversation history but are detached from your profile and shown as coming from Deleted user.
Apple or Google may retain transaction records under the applicable store's legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations. Deleting Blind Pear does not cancel an existing store subscription; manage or cancel it separately through the store where you purchased it. Anonymous, install-scoped app-open records are not linked to a Blind Pear account and may remain after account deletion.
When you request deletion by email, we verify the request and complete it within 30 days. We may retain limited records when required by law, needed to resolve a security or payment dispute, or necessary to demonstrate that a deletion request was completed.
Security
We use encrypted network connections, access controls, database row-level security, and restricted service credentials to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and contact us if you suspect unauthorized account access.
Your choices and rights
You can update profile information and preferences in the app, choose whether to grant location and notification permissions, and manage any existing subscription through the store where you purchased it. You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Applicable law may provide additional rights, including the right to complain to a privacy regulator.
Adults only
Blind Pear is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly allow minors to create accounts. If you believe a minor is using Blind Pear, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here, update its effective date, and provide additional notice when required by law.
